This large village has a sound community with a large conservative upper middle class population. OVERVIEW OF REPORT? INDICATION OF AUDIENCE?

The district’s total revenue is $81,382,000 yet they spend $82,656,000. They do not spend much more than they are given, but what they spend does not benefit the learning community. Last year they district installed automatic paper towel dispensers in every bathroom of every school in the district. These dispensers do not provide an enhanced education, and they also waste energy. However, the school is installing a fiber optic internet connection which will make internet research faster for students as well as the teachers. CITATION? ARE PEOPLE CONCERNED ABOUT HOW THE DISTRICT SPENDS ITS FUNDS?

The district provides a variety of sports that are open to all students and children of the town. The district offers soccer, tennis, volleyball, cross country, indoor/outdoor track, ultimate Frisbee, bowling, football, lacrosse, basketball, baseball, cheerleading, golf, ice hockey, softball, swimming, marching band, and wrestling. Ridgewood High School does pride itself on its history of championships and states titles but it borders on excessive CITATION?. The school almost focuses too much on sports rather than academics. Also, they have a theater company called New Players Company where students perform reproductions of Broadway plays and musicals.

The Ridgewood Public School system provides transportation for students below high school level whose parents work and are not able to get their children to school on time. However, once in the high school, you are only eligible for transportation if you are two or more miles from the school, regardless of guardian situation.
